BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday sent a message to Mohieddin Salem, congratulating him on his assumption of office as Sudan's minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
In his message, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, noted that China and Sudan have enjoyed deep traditional friendship and have always trusted and supported each other since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 60 years ago.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also noted that during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit in Beijing last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, at which they gave strategic instructions on developing bilateral relations.
Recalling that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Sudan strategic partnership, Wang Yi expressed his willingness to work with Mohieddin Salem to fully implement the important agreements reached by the heads of state, strengthen contacts and coordination between the two foreign ministries, and continuously promote new progress in the China-Sudan strategic partnership.
