Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev held a meeting on the development of border crossing points across the Russian Federation. The meeting summarized the movement of freight and trucks at key border sections for the first half of 2025, and focused on the launch of an electronic queuing system at the Verkhniy Lars vehicle crossing on the Russian-Georgian border.
In accordance with a Russian government decree, a time reservation system (electronic queue) will be deployed at the Verkhniy Lars automobile border crossing (Russian-Georgian border) beginning October 1, 2025. This will streamline traffic flows and speed up border crossing times. Work is currently being completed on setting up specialized equipment, and all interagency approvals have been received. The Russian Ministry of Transport, together with Rosgranstroy, is continuing to inform carriers about the launch of the reservation system.
