BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — At a recent press conference on the "Consumption Season in Culture, Tourism, Commerce, and Sports During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Holiday in Heilongjiang Province," Zhong Hua, deputy director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said the provincial government will continue to optimize cross-border tourism services to accommodate Russian tourists.

According to the Heilongjiang Daily, Zhong Hua noted that inbound tourist arrivals to Heilongjiang Province from January to August of this year totaled 1.107 million, with international tourist spending during the reporting period amounting to 12.13 billion yuan (approximately $1.7 billion). Year-on-year growth rates were 54.9 percent and 61.7 percent, respectively. In particular, following the implementation of the visa-free entry policy for Russian citizens, Heilongjiang Province welcomes Russian travelers with open arms, an open and inclusive stance, a variety of tourism products, and convenient and high-quality services.

According to statistics, on September 15, the flow of tourists from Russia recorded at various checkpoints in Heilongjiang Province increased by 107 percent compared to the previous day. In the first half of this year, it exceeded 145,000 visits, representing a 37.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. As favorable policies, including a visa-free regime, continue to have positive effects, Heilongjiang is taking measures to improve customs and passport control and enhance tourism services for visitors.

Zhong Hua reported that, with the growing passenger flow thanks to the visa-free regime, Heilongjiang Province's border crossings are increasing efficiency through smart technologies, making inbound tourism more convenient. At the Suifenhe border crossing, border control procedures have been optimized, staffing has been strengthened, intelligent inspection equipment has been upgraded, and the average border crossing time is now less than two minutes. At the Heihe border crossing, traffic routes have been dynamically optimized, intelligent inspection devices have been introduced, and intelligent screening channels have been created, allowing foreign tourists to experience the efficiency and warmth of Heilongjiang Province from the very first moment they arrive in China.

Zhong Hua emphasized that Heilongjiang Province has completely upgraded the app, providing an instant translation and intelligent service system, integrating functions such as landmark navigation, route planning, emergency assistance, and more, creating the country's first cross-border culture and tourism platform with "no language barriers and intelligent guidance," providing tourists with thoughtful service throughout their journey.
