BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — The number of 5G base stations in China reached nearly 4.65 million as of the end of August this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Tuesday.

The share of 5G base stations in the total number of mobile base stations across the country amounted to 36.3%.

Meanwhile, more and more Chinese mobile users are switching to 5G services.

According to data, as of the end of August this year, the number of mobile phone users of the three domestic telecommunications giants – China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, as well as China Broadnet – reached approximately 1.82 billion people.

By the end of August this year, the number of 5G mobile subscribers in China exceeded 1.15 billion, which is 140 million more than at the end of last year and accounts for 63.4 percent of the total number of mobile phone users.
