Almaty, September 23 (Xinhua) — Five people were killed in a traffic accident 5 km from the village of Bayet in the Pavlodar region of northern Kazakhstan, the Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday.

An accident occurred on the Pavlodar-Kyzylorda highway involving a truck and a car. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the latter created a dangerous situation. This resulted in a collision and a fire in the car.

Four passengers and the driver died in the accident. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the accident.
