Beijing, September 23 (Xinhua) — A total of 826 athletes and referees from China, Russia, and Mongolia gathered in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north China, to participate in the 11th China-Russia-Mongolia International Youth Games. Athletes will compete in 10 disciplines, including wrestling, judo, and table tennis.
According to the news portal chinanews.com, all competitions will be held at six stadiums and sports pavilions within the city of Baotou, including the city Olympic Center and the city Sports Center, as well as at the stadium in the Sports and Cultural Industrial Park of the Ulate Front Khoshun of Bayannur.
At the opening ceremony, Du Bojun, head of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Republic delegation and director of the Sports and Physical Culture Department of the region, noted that the China-Russia-Mongolia International Youth Games have been successfully held 10 times to date. They have become not only an important platform for sports exchanges and cooperation between young people from the three countries, but also a bridge and a link for deepening the friendship between their peoples.
The head of the delegation from the Republic of Buryatia of the Russian Federation, Minister of Sport of Buryatia Ivan Kozylev, in turn, noted that Buryatia will be represented at the Games by 80 young athletes competing in nine sports disciplines. All of them were born between 2009 and 2010.
The Mongolian delegation consists of 160 people who will also participate in nine sports, said Bilegt Erdenesaikhan, head of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Mongolia, emphasizing that Mongolia, China, and Russia are deepening friendly relations and pragmatic cooperation through sports.
As it has become known, the current sporting event will last until September 26. It is organized by the Baotou City Sports and Physical Culture Department under the auspices of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sports and Physical Culture Department and the Baotou City Government. -0-
