BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Science and Technology on Monday released an annual report on the transformation of China's scientific and technological achievements at the 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum held in Shanghai, the Keji Ribao (Science and Technology) daily reported.

The report said that in 2024, a total of 4,059 Chinese universities and institutes transformed their scientific and technological achievements through methods such as transfer, licensing, investment, technical development, consulting and services, with contracts totaling 226.9 billion yuan (about 31.9 billion US dollars) signed, up about 10 percent compared with the previous year.

The total number of such contracts amounted to 661 thousand, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the country demonstrated an upward trend in both value and quantity.

According to the report, employees at Chinese universities and research institutes are highly enthusiastic about innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2024, 415 universities and research institutes across the country signed contracts for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements worth over 100 million yuan each, a 4.1 percent increase from the previous year.

By the end of 2024, China's universities and research institutes employed 18,248 staff members specializing in the implementation of scientific and technological advances. More than 1,000 universities and research institutes have established technology transfer bureaus.

The report noted that by the end of 2024, 1,329 Chinese universities and research institutes will have established joint research and development units, technology transfer offices and similar service platforms in collaboration with enterprises. -0-
