Beijing, September 22 (Xinhua) — The Global Women's Summit will soon be held in the Chinese capital to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 World Conference on Women, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced on Monday.

Guo Jiakun made the announcement at a regular press briefing, commenting on the release of the white paper "China's Achievements in the All-Round Development of Women's Affairs in the New Era," published on September 19 by the State Council Information Office.

The official representative recalled that 30 years ago, the Fourth UN World Conference on Women was successfully held in Beijing. In memory of this conference and to further implement the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the Chinese government and UN Women jointly organized the Global Women's Summit at UN Headquarters in New York 10 years ago.

According to Guo Jiakun, five years ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed holding another Global Women's Summit in 2025.

The diplomat noted that, globally, there are only five years left to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Global women's development faces significant challenges, but also offers significant opportunities, he noted.

"In promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, China is not only an initiator but also an active participant," Guo Jiakun emphasized.

According to the official representative, since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, women's causes in China have flourished, achieving historic successes and comprehensive progress. The path of women's development under socialism with Chinese characteristics demonstrates its vitality and unique advantages.

Guo Jiakun explained that the White Paper aims to fully showcase China's key achievements in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, systematically expound on the concepts, principles, and innovative practices for promoting gender equality and women's all-round development in the new era, showcase the tenacious spirit of Chinese women, contribute Chinese wisdom to the global cause of women, and share relevant Chinese experience.

"China is ready to work with all countries around the world to accelerate the new process of women's all-round development and write a new chapter in the global cause of women's development," Guo Jiakun concluded.
