ISLAMABAD, July 12 (Xinhua) — Heavy monsoon rains and flash floods have killed at least 98 people and injured 185 others in Pakistan since June 26, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Friday.

According to the department's statement, eight people have died and another 27 have been injured in rain-related accidents in the past 24 hours.

Punjab province recorded the highest number of casualties, 37 people including 20 children, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with 30 fatalities.

Authorities have issued warnings of possible rainfall in the coming days and urged residents, especially those living in low-lying and vulnerable areas, to take precautions. Rescue efforts are ongoing in the worst-hit areas. –0–
