Tashkent, September 20 (Xinhua) — The 3rd International Festival of Folk Applied Arts opened in the city of Kokand in Uzbekistan on Friday.

"The festival and forum, held to study and popularize folk arts and crafts, their history, schools, and traditions, are attended by approximately 300 artisans from more than 70 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and the cultural and scientific community. This demonstrates the growing international prestige of these events," the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported on Friday.

"In Uzbekistan, great attention is paid to the development of handicrafts, which have evolved over many centuries as an integral part of our rich cultural heritage, national traditions, and values. Today, this sector not only serves as a link between the past and the future but is also becoming a vital economic sector. Thus, the country is creating significant opportunities for artisans—skilled craftsmen, designers, and young talents—and is undertaking extensive work to promote their products on the global market and present them as a national brand," the statement reads.

The festival will run from September 19 to 21. –0–
