Moscow, September 20 (Xinhua) — China and Russia have pledged to strengthen cooperation between their legislative bodies during the Chinese delegation's visit to Russia, which will last from Tuesday to Saturday.
During the visit, Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC Standing Committee), who led the Chinese delegation, met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Farid Mukhametshin, Chairman of the State Council of Tatarstan.
Peng Qinghua, along with Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov, also co-chaired the fourth meeting of the joint parliamentary working group under the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China.
The head of the Chinese delegation stated that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, Chinese-Russian relations are at their highest level in history.
He noted that China is ready to cooperate with Russia to take the consensus reached by the heads of state as a key guideline, and to continue to use the joint working group as a platform, continuously strengthen cooperation between legislative bodies, and contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese-Russian relations.
The Russian side expressed its readiness to deepen strategic coordination with China, continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation between parliaments at all levels, and continuously enrich the content of Russian-Chinese relations.
