Brussels, September 19 (Xinhua) — European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday announced the Commission's proposals for a 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, targeting mainly the energy and financial sectors.

According to the statement, the European Union plans to ban imports of Russian liquefied natural gas into its market and lower the price ceiling for Russian crude oil to $47.6 per barrel. Russian energy companies Rosneft and Gazprom Neft will face a complete trade ban.

The EU will also expand the ban on transactions involving banks in Russia and other countries and include cryptocurrency platforms in the sanctions for the first time.

Under EU procedures, the new sanctions package must be unanimously approved by all 27 member states before coming into force. –0–
