Nanjing, September 18 (Xinhua) — China hopes to deepen practical cooperation with Pacific island countries in law enforcement and policing, continuously enhancing the capacity of Pacific Island countries' police forces to independently maintain order, security, and social stability. This was announced on Thursday by State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong.
Wang Xiaohong made the announcement while delivering a speech at the 4th China-Pacific Island Countries Ministerial Dialogue on Law Enforcement Capabilities and Police Cooperation, which is being held in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province.
As the Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China noted, China is ready to work with all parties to implement the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, adhering to the principles of development priority, independence of island states, openness and inclusiveness.
Wang Xiaohong added that China hopes to strengthen communication and exchanges at all levels and work with Pacific island countries to achieve long-term regional security, improve the well-being of their people, and make greater contributions to building a closer community with a shared future for China and the Pacific island countries.
Wang Xiaohong and Tongan Police Minister Paula Piukala co-chaired the ministerial dialogue. Speeches were delivered by the heads of delegations of Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Samoa, Nauru, and Papua New Guinea.
