Recently, nearly 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of butterfly flowers (Cleome hasslerii) began blooming in the Fenghuanggou scenic area of Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province. The colorful sea of flowers attracted numerous tourists.
Butterfly flowers come in pink, purple, and white. When in full bloom, their petals resemble thousands of butterflies dancing on the branches.
"Butterfly flowers have a unique feature: they always bloom quietly at dusk and quickly fade the next day," said Fu Ziqi, a staff member at Fenghuanggou Park. This short yet vibrant life cycle gives butterfly flowers a special value and mystique.
