Beijing, September 17 (Xinhua) — The United States' unilateral distortion of facts and misinterpretation of World War II documents cannot shake the international community's unwavering commitment to the one-China principle, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Wednesday.
Lin Chien made the statement at a regular press conference in response to a question from reporters about a statement by a US State Department spokesman that none of these documents, including the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Declaration, determine the final political status of Taiwan.
Noting that the one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community, Lin Jian called on the US side to fully abide by this principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, stop manipulating the Taiwan issue, condoning or supporting separatist forces seeking "Taiwan independence" in any form, and refrain from interfering in China's internal affairs. -0-
