KABUL, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — At least three people were killed and two others injured when their car skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said on Wednesday.

The crash occurred in Argo County after a car lost control on a steep hill, killing three passengers, including the driver, and injuring two children, he said.

This is the third such incident in the northern provinces in the past three days. On Monday, a collision between two motorcycles in Badakhshan left one person dead and three others injured.

Earlier on Sunday, six passengers were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in the northern province of Faryab.

Road traffic fatalities remain a persistent problem in Afghanistan, often attributed to deteriorating road conditions, reckless driving, and inadequate safety measures in challenging terrain and limited infrastructure. –0–
