GUANGZHOU, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Leading Chinese coffee chain Luckin Coffee opened its first Brazilian coffee-themed store in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on Monday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.
This is the fourth Brazilian coffee shop opened by Luckin Coffee in China. The company currently operates more than 20,000 shops across the country. Luckin Coffee has been actively promoting coffee trade and economic cooperation with Brazil for many years.
According to the company, Luckin Coffee will purchase a total of 240,000 tons of coffee beans from Brazil between 2025 and 2029, worth 10 billion yuan (about $1.4 billion), the largest coffee bean purchasing plan in the company's history to date.
Brazil is one of the world's largest coffee producers, supplying at least a third of the world's coffee beans. At the same time, China's coffee market is experiencing rapid growth.
Luckin Coffee has created high-quality coffee growing zones in Brazil, allowing it to be even more involved in the daily production processes at the source and to increase control over the quality of the coffee beans. Luckin Coffee also trains Brazilian farmers in coffee growing and processing technologies.
The company said it plans to open more than 30 Brazilian coffee-themed stores across China and build a new Brazilian Coffee Museum.
