Tbilisi, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili met with Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Avi Dichter in Tbilisi, the Georgian Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture announced on Monday.

According to the ministry, during the bilateral meeting, special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector. Decisions were made to establish a working group to deal with issues of agriculture and trade, as well as to develop a memorandum of cooperation.

At the meeting, the parties stressed the importance of developing the export and import of agricultural products. It was noted that Georgia can become competitive in the Israeli market with such products as wine, honey and dried fruits, while the import of modern agricultural technologies and irrigation systems from Israel to Georgia should increase. According to the parties, increased trade dynamics will contribute to expanding opportunities for the business sector and farmers from both countries. –0–
