XINING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China's National Cultural Heritage Administration announced Monday that it has discovered an engraved stone on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is the only one of its kind known to have been preserved in its original location and located at the highest altitude in history from the Qin Dynasty (221-207 B.C.).

The stone is located on the northern shore of Lake Gyaring-Tso in Mado County, Qinghai Province, Northwest China, at an altitude of about 4,300 meters above sea level.

As reported by the above-mentioned department, the new find has important historical, artistic and scientific value. Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi, who founded the Qin Dynasty, was the first to unite the territory of China. -0-
