JINAN, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — The total number of registered new energy city buses in China will reach about 544,000 units by the end of 2024, accounting for 82.7 percent of the country's urban public transport buses, Vice Minister of Transport Li Yang said Friday.

Li Yang made the announcement at the opening ceremony of an event to promote green transportation in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province.

As the deputy head of the transport department noted, by the end of 2024, the total length of operating urban bus lines in China was 1.75 million km.
