Moscow, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) — The joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation "Zapad-2025" kicked off on Friday, which is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the two countries this year, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.
Practical actions of the troops/forces will take place at training grounds on the territory of Belarus and Russia, as well as in the waters of the Baltic and Barents Seas.
According to a message from the Russian Ministry of Defense published on its Telegram channel, the objectives of the exercise are to improve the skills of commanders and headquarters, the level of interaction and field training of regional and coalition groups of troops /forces/ in solving joint tasks to maintain peace, protect interests and ensure military security.
To practice joint actions as part of a coalition group of troops/forces, operational groups of military command bodies and military contingents from the CSTO, SCO and other partner countries have been invited to the exercise.
