BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — China will further expand opening up in sectors related to digital trade such as telecommunications, the internet and culture, Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping said Thursday.

As Sheng Qiuping noted at the press conference, China will encourage foreign investors to increase investment in digital sectors and improve investment and business convenience for foreign-funded enterprises engaged in digital trade.

The country's authorities will promote orderly cross-border data flow, accelerate the development of standards related to digital trade, and promote international harmonization of these standards, Sheng Qiuping promised, adding that China will implement the negative list for cross-border trade in services and continuously improve the openness of digital trade.

Speaking about digital trading platforms, the vice minister announced that China will establish national digital trading demonstration zones and build clusters with higher-level openness, institutional innovation, favorable business environment and strong spillover effect.

In addition, Sheng Qiuping continued, China will promote the emergence of leading digital trade enterprises with strong innovative capacity and global competitiveness, support them in developing global markets, and develop small and medium-sized companies that are highly export-oriented and have unique competitive advantages.

China is willing to play a constructive role in discussions on digital trade rules within the World Trade Organization, the Group of 20 and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and safeguard and improve the multilateral governance system for the digital economy, Sheng Qiuping added. –0–
