BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — From January to August 2025, China's automobile production and sales totaled 21.051 million units and 21.128 million units, respectively, up 12.7 percent and 12.6 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Compared with the first seven months of this year, the growth rate of automobile production in the country remained unchanged, while the growth rate of their sales volume increased by 0.6 percentage points.

During the reporting period, the production and sales volumes of new energy vehicles (NEVs) amounted to 9.625 million and 9.62 million units, respectively, an increase of 37.3 percent and 36.7 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, sales of cars at NIE accounted for 45.5 percent of the total sales of new cars on the Chinese auto market.

According to Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of CAAM, China's auto industry has been performing well overall recently, thanks to the effectiveness of large-scale equipment upgrade and trade-in programs for consumer goods, the development of a series of policies to stimulate consumption, and the high enthusiasm of enterprises to release new car models. -0-
