DOHA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — Qatar will give a "comprehensive" response to the Israeli air strike on Doha earlier in the day and prevent future attacks, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Qatar reserves the right to respond to Israel and will not tolerate any violation of its sovereignty, he noted.

He said mediation on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza would continue, but talks were currently stalled following the Israeli strike in Doha.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike on the Qatari capital, targeting a building used by senior Hamas officials in what Israeli authorities called an attempt to kill the group's leaders who were "directly responsible for the October 7 massacre."

Hamas later said the attack came as its delegation was discussing a new ceasefire proposal presented by US President Donald Trump. The group said members of the negotiating delegation survived, but six others were killed.
