In early September, Mengla County Vocational High School in Yunnan Province, located on the China-Laos border, welcomed freshmen, including more than 350 Lao students.

With the opening of the China-Laos Railway, traveling by train to study abroad has become a new way for these Lao students to start the new semester.

Vocational education is an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative. As the "vanguard" of opening up vocational education in border areas, Menla County Senior Vocational School has been training Lao students since 2001. To date, the school has accepted a total of 3,186 Lao youth. This has created an important bridge for talent training and cultural exchange in building a community with a shared future for China and Laos.
