BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) — Chinese lawmakers are considering a draft law aimed at promoting national cohesion and progress.
The document was submitted for consideration in the first reading at the ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Monday.
According to the explanatory document to the draft, the law is aimed at strengthening the consciousness of the commonality of the Chinese nation, uniting efforts to advance Chinese modernization, and promoting the common prosperity and development of all ethnic groups in the country.
The project provides for specific measures to promote the expansion of contacts, exchanges and integration between all ethnic groups in the country, including harmonious coexistence of representatives of different ethnic groups, school education, youth exchanges, cultural and sports events and tourism.
In order to promote common prosperity and development, the project also emphasizes the importance of infrastructure construction, industrial development, improvement of public services, protection of natural resources and eco-civilization construction. -0-
