BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) — China's manufacturing value-added is expected to grow by more than 8 trillion yuan (about 1.13 trillion U.S. dollars) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), accounting for more than 30 percent of the country's contribution to global manufacturing growth, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng said Tuesday.

China has led the world in overall manufacturing industry size for 15 years in a row, the official added at a press conference.

Over the past five years, China has steadily increased investment in innovation: large manufacturing companies with annual operating income of at least 20 million yuan each spent more than 1.6 percent of their total operating income on R&D.

More than 570 industrial companies in the country are among the world's top 2,500 enterprises in terms of R&D investment.

Li Lecheng also stressed that China, together with some countries, has put forward an initiative for international cooperation on maintaining the resilience and stability of industrial and supply chains, aiming to accelerate the building of more equal, inclusive and constructive partnerships in industrial and supply chains. -0-
