SHANGHAI, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — A presentation of the tourism potential of the Hexi Corridor area in northwest China's Gansu Province was held in Shanghai on Friday. The event was attended by foreign diplomats accredited in Shanghai, representatives of foreign-invested enterprises and international organizations.
The 1,000-kilometer-long Hexi Corridor is a chain of narrow depressions in northwestern Gansu Province. The area contains five UNESCO World Heritage Sites and more than 50 cave complexes. The Great Silk Road passed along the Hexi Corridor.
The presentation included a photo exhibition, an exhibition of intangible cultural heritage and local specialty products, and officials from Zhangye, Jiuquan and other cities along the Hexi Corridor introduced their cultural and tourism resources.
Gong Jiajia, deputy director of the Gansu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said she hoped the presentation would attract more attention to Gansu.
Vice Chairman of the People's Government of Gansu Province Wang Bin invited guests from all over the world to learn about the unique culture of the Hexi Corridor region and Gansu Province at the presentation. -0-
