The 13th season of the Olympiad "Museums. Parks. Estates" is starting in Moscow. You can join it until March 15, and complete tasks until March 31. Registration is available on the Moscow Electronic School (MES) platform. This was reported by the press service of the capital's Department of Education and Science.
"This Olympiad is one of the largest in terms of the number of participants – last season, more than 130 thousand young Muscovites joined it. Participants of the Olympiad visit museums, parks and estates, complete interesting tasks and learn new things about the cultural life of the city. This format helps children see the places they learn about in history, literature and other classes. The tasks are compiled by museum and park employees together with specialists from the Center for Pedagogical Excellence," the department's press service said.
The Olympics unite more than 300 sites in the capital, including the Cosmonautics Museum, the Darwin Museum, the Hermitage Garden and others. This season, the Central Museum of Russian Cossacks, the A.V. Shchusev State Research Museum of Architecture and the Yu.A. Orlov Paleontological Museum have also joined the project. "Each season, we prepare new questions for children of all ages especially for the Museums. Parks. Estates Olympiad. A whole team works on this. All questions are necessarily related to our exhibits. For senior classes, we choose topics from the school curriculum: anatomy, theory of evolution, general biology. For younger students, we choose fascinating facts about the world of plants and animals. The main thing is that the child does not just find the answer, but carefully examines the exhibit, reads the text next to it and learns something new for themselves. We try to make sure that each question leads to a small discovery," said Liliya Vanyavina, head of the scientific and educational programs department of the Timiryazev State Biological Museum.
To take part in the Olympiad, schoolchildren register under their account in "MESh", and for preschoolers, parents create a child's account on mos.ru. Detailed information on registering for the Olympiad can be found inspecial instructions.
Last season, the guys won more than 60 thousand winners' diplomas and 10 thousand prize winners' diplomas. To win, it was necessary to visit at least seven sites and score 400 points. The most popular places were the Moscow City Economy Museum, the Darwin Museum, the Cosmonautics Museum, as well as VDNKh, Catherine Park and the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve. In total, almost 300 sites were available to the participants.
The season finale was a traditional game — a walk around the center of Moscow for the winners and prize winners. Almost 10 thousand children, together with their parents and teachers, solved the city's riddles, looked for ancient tablets and studied architectural details.
The Olympiad "Museums. Parks. Estates" has been held since 2013. Its organizers are the capital's Department of Education and Science andDepartment of Culture, and the coordinator is Center for Teaching Excellence.
Earlier at the annual August teachers' council Sergei Sobyanin spoke about the achievements of the capital's education and its development. Thus, last academic year, Moscow schoolchildren won almost half of the diplomas of winners and prize winners of the All-Russian Olympiad. In total, the Moscow team has a record 1,863 awards, which is 40 percent more than in 2024.
