HANOI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — Zhao Leji, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), called for accelerating the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance during a visit to the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
Zhao Leji made the statement during a meeting with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV CC) To Lam.
During the meeting, he conveyed cordial greetings to To Lam from General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and warmly congratulated Vietnam on the historic achievements of the Party and the country over the past 80 years.
Zhao Leji said that under the new circumstances, China is willing to join hands with Vietnam to effectively implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both parties. He expressed China's willingness to work with Vietnam to strengthen friendship between the two peoples and jointly advance socialist modernization in their countries.
For his part, To Lam asked Zhao Leji to convey his sincere greetings to General Secretary Xi Jinping, expressing gratitude for the enormous assistance provided by China during the periods of revolution and construction in Vietnam.
He said that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, China has made remarkable achievements in development and become the main driving force of global economic growth. Noting that Vietnam has always regarded developing relations with China as an objective necessity, a strategic choice and a top priority, To Lam said the country has always adhered to the one-China policy and is willing to join hands with China in the great cause of building socialism and jointly opening up the second golden age of Vietnam-China relations.
At the invitation of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Manh, Zhao Leji led the party and government delegation on a visit to Vietnam, during which he also met with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh, held talks with Tran Thanh Manh and attended events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
During the meeting with Luong Cuong, Zhao Leji said that China and Vietnam should respond to external uncertainties with socialist forces, support and strengthen the leadership of the Communist Party, firmly support reform and development efforts in both countries, jointly combat the tendency of unilateralism and protectionism, and safeguard international justice and the common interests of developing countries.
For his part, Luong Cuong noted that the Vietnamese side is sincerely pleased with China's continuous development and growth and is ready to constantly strengthen the political foundation of bilateral relations, accelerate the implementation of major landmark projects and promote the traditional friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting with Pham Minh Chinh, Zhao Leji said that China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Vietnam, expand cooperation in traditional sectors, strengthen cooperation in emerging areas, and jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system and maintain the smooth operation of global industrial chains and supply chains.
For his part, Pham Minh Trinh noted that Vietnam is ready to promote bilateral economic integration and development within the framework of the Belt and Road, achieve new progress in practical cooperation such as railway construction, and make positive contributions to the implementation of global initiatives put forward by China.
During the talks with Tran Thanh Manh, Zhao Leji noted that the NPC is willing to raise the level of institutional exchanges with the National Assembly of Vietnam, promote mutual exchange of experience in legislative and supervisory activities, so as to provide legal support for practical cooperation between the two countries.
Tran Thanh Manh, in turn, said that the National Assembly of Vietnam is ready to maintain regular mutual visits and exchanges with the NPC so that cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries becomes more practical and effective.
Zhao Leji and Tran Thanh Manh also attended the first meeting of the joint legislative committee, during which they exchanged views on national security legislation and discussed issues of developing trade, economic and technological cooperation from the perspective of legislative bodies.
During his visit to Vietnam, Zhao Leji was invited to the ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, where he watched a military parade, mass gatherings and grand cultural performances.
