The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov made a working visit to the People's Republic of China, where he held a number of important meetings aimed at expanding bilateral scientific and technical cooperation.

On August 22, the head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science met with the Minister of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, Yin Hejun.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the development of partnership within the framework of megascience projects. Today, Chinese scientists participate in the work of the NICA Complex facility, created at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. Long-standing contacts continue with the Kurchatov Institute. Valery Falkov proposed developing a unified scientific research program that will ensure the joint use of the existing and emerging research infrastructure in Russia and China.

The ministers also condemned cooperation between the SCO and BRICS. In particular, a statement on strengthening scientific, technical and innovative cooperation between the SCO states until 2030 is planned for September.

On August 25, Valery Falkov held a meeting with the Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, Huai Jinpeng.

The parties discussed the activities of joint Russian-Chinese universities, including projects that have only just been planned. The colleagues also noted the growth in the number of Chinese students at Russian universities. Over the past five years, their number has almost doubled. Last academic year, over 56,000 Chinese citizens studied in Russia.

The meeting also touched on the topic of cooperation within the BRICS line, including the initiative to create a new balanced ranking of universities that would take into account the specifics of the educational systems of the two countries. Given the experience of Russia and China in this area, Valery Falkov proposed combining efforts to create an alternative, fair mechanism for evaluating universities.

The State University of Management follows current trends in education and also develops cooperation with Chinese colleagues. The State University of Management runs a joint network master's program "International Manufacturing Business Management" with Ningbo University, organizes internships for Russian specialists in China, and last summer a cooperation agreement was signed with the Shandong Institute of Technology and Business. In addition, for faster adaptation, all foreign students are offered to study Russian at the preparatory department of the State University of Management.
