BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called on the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to provide strategic support for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and make greater contributions to world peace and development.
Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the call while delivering a speech in Beijing at a gathering to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
He urged the PLA to become a world-class advanced military force and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. -0-
