KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — Malaysia supports China's Global Governance Initiative, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Monday, stressing that the initiative is very timely at a time when the multilateral system is struggling.
A. Ibrahim attended the “SCO Plus” meeting in Tianjin on Monday. In a social media post later in the day, he described the initiative as “an idea that resonates deeply at a time when the multilateral system is struggling.”
“There is a trust deficit in the international system today. Failures in trade, financial architecture and the response to climate change have exposed the gap between high-flown rhetoric and the suffering felt by the masses,” he said.
Malaysia therefore “strongly supports” the initiative, Anwar Ibrahim added, stressing that the ideals of justice, humanity, compassion and cooperation must be translated into concrete actions. –0–
