NEW DELHI, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) — At least 11 people were killed and one was missing on Saturday in heavy rains and landslides in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said.

Heavy rains and landslides hit Reasi and Ramban districts south of Srinagar.

"Early this morning, seven members of a family were buried alive after a landslide triggered by heavy rain destroyed their house in Karara village of Reasi district. Villagers have recovered the bodies," the official said.

Four more people were killed and one was missing after heavy rains hit Rajad village in Ramban district.

The incidents on Saturday were the latest in a series of such tragedies that have hit the region in recent months during the monsoons. –0–
