MINSK, August 30 /Xinhua/ – China and Belarus should always remain the driving force of peace in the world, and peace is in the genes of both nations, said Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan in an opinion piece published in the Belarus Segodnya newspaper on Friday.
According to him, for China and Belarus, the anti-fascist war is not only a difficult historical memory, but also a spiritual resonance that transcends time and space.
"When I look at the heroic land of Belarus, I deeply feel the historical resonance and spiritual consonance. For the sake of a common goal – to resist fascist tyranny, defend freedom and fight for peace – China and Belarus fought shoulder to shoulder. The friendship between the two peoples remains strong and over time, in the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, it constantly bears new abundant fruits. Time flies, the smoke of war has long cleared, but the lessons of history must not be forgotten, the feats of the fallen heroes will live forever," Zhang Wenchuan noted.
The ambassador also recalled that this year China and Belarus held a series of commemorative events, honoring the memory of the difficult war years. On September 3, a jubilee celebration will be held in Tiananmen Square in Beijing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
"President /of Belarus/ Alexander Lukashenko has been invited to take part in this ceremony. I am convinced that his visit will play an important role in promoting the correct view of the history of World War II, jointly preserving the post-war world order and strengthening the Chinese-Belarusian friendship forged in the fire of war," Zhang Wenchuan emphasized.
"China and Belarus should always remain the driving force of world peace. Peacefulness is embedded in the genes of both nations.
