Cuandixia Village, located in Zhaitan Township, Mentougou District, Beijing, has a history of more than 500 years.
Cuandixia Village is a popular tourist spot in Beijing. It is one of the first listed in the List of Famous Chinese Historical and Cultural Villages and is included in the first List of Traditional Chinese Villages. It preserves a relatively complete ancient architectural complex of a northern Chinese mountain village, consisting of more than 70 residential houses from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
The village also holds the title of "Hero Village". During the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, more than 100 residents of Cuandixia Village took part in the revolution, 22 of whom sacrificed their lives for the country. The Jinchaji Ribao newspaper published a story about seven militiamen and soldiers from Cuandixia Village who successfully repelled the Japanese invaders.
