Kyiv, August 27 /Xinhua/ – On Wednesday night, Russia launched a massive drone strike on energy and gas transportation infrastructure facilities in six regions of Ukraine, the country's Energy Ministry reported on Telegram.
The department specified that the attacks targeted facilities in the Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions.
The Ministry of Energy noted that the assessment of the damage is ongoing. Emergency and rescue services are working at the landing sites to restore power and gas supplies.
The strike reportedly damaged equipment at a key substation in the city of Sumy, the capital of the Sumy region, leaving a significant portion of the city and industrial consumers without power.
The Ukrainian Air Force, in turn, stated that on Wednesday night, the Russian Federation launched a total of 95 drones of various types at Ukrainian territory. It is specified that by 09:00 on Wednesday, Kyiv time, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down or suppressed 74 of them, while 21 drones were recorded hitting nine locations. –0–
