UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — UN General Assembly President Philemon Young strongly condemned Israel's strike on Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, his spokesperson Sharon Birch said at a daily briefing on Tuesday.
The UN General Assembly President strongly condemned the Israeli shelling that killed civilians, including medics and journalists, she said. “The killing of innocent Palestinian civilians, journalists and medical personnel is unacceptable and must stop,” Birch said.
The UN General Assembly President reiterated his urgent demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Humanitarian organizations must be given full, rapid, safe and unimpeded access to provide urgently needed assistance on a large scale to the civilian population of the enclave, and the Israeli hostages still being held must be released, Birch added.
At least 20 Palestinians, including five journalists, were killed in a strike on Nasser Hospital on Monday. –0–
