BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) — A freight train carrying 16 containers of fabrics and other goods left Qianqing Freight Station in east China's Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, on Monday, heading to Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, from where it will arrive in Central Asian countries via international intermodal services after being processed, chinanews.com.cn reported.

This marks the emergence of a new efficient and convenient international logistics channel for textile exports from Keqiao District, Shaoxing City, known as China's largest textile industry cluster.

The new specialized cross-border route “Keqiao-Xinjiang-Central Asia” passes through major cities of Central Asian countries, including Almaty, Tashkent and Bishkek.

Compared with previous transportation methods, the transportation time from Keqiao to Central Asia has been shortened by about 2 days, which can improve the speed of international logistics and reduce the transportation cost of enterprises.

According to statistics, as the engine of the global textile industry, China's Keqiao Textile City has annual business volumes of over 400 billion yuan, and nearly 60 percent of the local annual export volume of over 100 billion yuan goes to markets in Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe. -0-
