SANAA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — Israeli warplanes carried out a series of air strikes on government and military targets in Yemen's capital Sanaa on Sunday, the Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV channel reported.
Locals said the presidential palace, the capital's secretariat, the state oil company building, fuel depots and power stations in the central, southern and southwestern parts of the city were hit. They also reported dozens of explosions and fires at several sites. Ambulances could be heard rushing to the scene. Medics reported casualties, but official figures have not yet been released.
Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strikes in a statement, without giving details. Israel Army Radio reported that the attacks had ended and that the targets were power plants, the presidential palace and a fuel depot. –0–
