BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — The 10th China-Russia Yangtze-Volga Youth Forum opened in the southwest Chinese city of Chongqing on Friday, bringing together more than 300 young representatives from 14 regions of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation and six provincial-level administrative units in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River in China.
According to the Zhongguo Qingnianbao (Chinese Youth Newspaper), the current forum aims to create a cross-cultural dialogue platform to deepen exchanges and mutual learning, popularize the common values of all mankind, and develop broader and more intensive interactions between the above-mentioned regions in various fields, thereby injecting more powerful impetus into the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era.
The seven-day forum will feature a number of events, including a roundtable on education and youth development in China and Russia, Russia Day, China Day, visits to monuments to Soviet soldiers, the Hongyan Revolutionary Memorial Museum, and excursions to some areas of Chongqing.
The China-Russia Youth Forum “Yangtze-Volga” was established in 2014 and is a significant humanitarian project within the framework of the mechanism of China-Russia interregional cooperation in the “Yangtze-Volga” format. The forum is organized alternately by both parties. -0-
