BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — A total of 36,133 foreign-invested enterprises were established on the Chinese mainland from January to July 2025, up 14.1 percent year on year, the Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

During the specified period, the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) actually used by China amounted to 467.34 billion yuan (about 65.8 billion US dollars), which is 13.4 percent less year-on-year.

Broken down by sector, the above-mentioned figure in the manufacturing and service industries reached 121.04 billion yuan and 336.25 billion yuan, respectively. The actual use of FDI in high-tech industries reached 137.36 billion yuan, with e-commerce services and aerospace equipment manufacturing industries increasing year-on-year by 146.8 percent and 42.2 percent, respectively.

During the reporting period, investment from ASEAN countries in China increased by 1.1 percent year-on-year, while investment from Switzerland, Japan and the UK increased by 63.9 percent, 53.7 percent and 19.5 percent, respectively. -0-
