BOGOTA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — At least 18 people were killed and dozens injured in two attacks in Colombia on Thursday, local authorities said.
At least six people were killed and more than 30 injured in a bomb explosion near the Marco Fidel Suarez Air Base in the city of Cali, the city's mayor's office said. The attack occurred at about 2:50 p.m. local time, according to the Colombian Aerospace Force.
In addition, in the northern city of Amalfi, more than 12 police officers were killed while on duty when their helicopter was shot down by the criminal group “Central General Staff”.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro confirmed the incident, saying the helicopter was carrying a group of people working to destroy coca crops following a seizure of cocaine. –0–
