KABUL, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) — The sixth round of trilateral dialogue between the foreign ministers of China, Afghanistan and Pakistan was held here on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

During the talks, Wang Yi noted that since the resumption of the trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue mechanism in 2022, the two sides have continued to advance political, development and security cooperation, safeguard regional peace and stability, and respond to various risks and challenges on the principles of mutual respect, equal consultation and mutual benefit.

He said China has put forward the important concept of building a community with a shared future, as well as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, which serve as a guide for the three countries in jointly building a beautiful home and laying the foundation for security.

Wang Yi noted that China is ready to deepen trust with Afghanistan and Pakistan, understand and support each other on issues affecting the core interests of the three countries, and resolutely oppose the interference of any external forces in regional affairs, as well as the activities of any organizations or individuals that harm each other's national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

He said China and Pakistan play a leading role in the international community and among regional neighbors in helping Afghanistan in its stabilization and reconstruction efforts and in expanding Kabul's external relations.

Wang Yi noted that China will continue to defend Afghanistan's interests at multilateral platforms, promote constructive contacts and exchanges between the international community and Afghanistan, and support the Afghan side's efforts to normalize diplomatic relations.

He said China, Afghanistan and Pakistan should expand development cooperation, improve security dialogue mechanisms, deepen law enforcement and security cooperation, step up efforts to combat transnational terrorism, and address the root causes of extremist activities through comprehensive measures on the basis of consensus.

A.H. Muttaqi and M.I. Dar highly appreciated the positive progress achieved by the trilateral Foreign Ministers' Dialogue Mechanism and China's contribution to the development of trilateral cooperation.

A.H. Muttaqi noted that Afghanistan hopes to deepen friendly relations, strengthen coordination and cooperation, and promote further development of trilateral cooperation.

In turn, the Pakistani Foreign Minister said that trilateral cooperation has enormous potential and should be strengthened in various areas to achieve common development.

He said that as a neighbour of Afghanistan, Pakistan is ready to make a greater contribution to advancing the Afghan peace process and improving the living conditions of the Afghan people.

M. I. Dar said that Pakistan calls for the release of frozen Afghan assets abroad. He also called on the three sides to jointly combat terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorist attacks.

The two sides agreed to make full use of the trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue mechanism, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all fields, and promote regional peace, stability, development and prosperity. –0–
