First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov and Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held the 26th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in Moscow.

Over the past five years, the volume of trade between Russia and India has grown almost sevenfold. India is one of Russia's three largest foreign trade partners.

"Along with the increase in trade volumes, its range is also expanding. In addition to traditional and stable supplies of energy resources to India, Russian exports include mineral fertilizers, metallurgy and forestry products, diamonds, energy equipment and food. In turn, our country imports agricultural products, medicines and substances, light industry goods, industrial raw materials, equipment and components from India," Denis Manturov noted.

The First Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of further work on preparing a free trade agreement between the EAEU and India, as well as ensuring uninterrupted mutual settlements between the two countries.

In addition, the meeting discussed cooperation in the chemical industry, metallurgy, transport engineering and digital technologies. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the energy sector. The First Deputy Prime Minister noted the potential for expanding Russian LNG supplies to India.

Another traditional area of Russian-Indian relations is humanitarian cooperation. Positive dynamics of interaction in the field of education are observed. Cultural interaction continues, including in the field of cinematography. It is planned that the Russian-Indian film "Pearl" will be released in the fall of 2025.

"Against the backdrop of active intercultural exchange, the mutual tourist flow is steadily increasing. The growing interest in Russia on the part of Indian citizens is especially noteworthy. In the first half of this year, the number of Indian tourists visiting our country increased by a quarter," Denis Manturov noted.

Speaking about cooperation in the media, the First Deputy Prime Minister spoke about the plans of the Russia Today media holding to launch the RT India television channel in New Delhi by the end of the year.

Following the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and the Minister of External Affairs of India signed the final protocol of the 26th meeting of the Russian-Indian IGC.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, a business forum was held where prospects for comprehensive cooperation and expansion of business contacts between Russia and India were discussed. Denis Manturov invited Indian colleagues to visit the Eastern Economic Forum in September in Vladivostok, the Russian Energy Week in October in Moscow, and the industrial exhibition "Innoprom" in July next year in Yekaterinburg.
