On September 20, the Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk is on a working visit to the Republic of Armenia.
In Yerevan, Alexey Overchuk was received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, with whom he discussed current issues of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia in a bilateral format, as well as within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The parties discussed the progress of the implementation of joint programs and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest to Russia and Armenia.
During the visit, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan, held a meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, which was attended by representatives of relevant structures, ministries and departments of the two countries.
The parties heard a report on the progress in implementing the decisions of the 23rd meeting of the IGC, held in December 2024, as well as practical aspects of preparing for the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for the end of this year.
The IGC co-chairs paid special attention to issues related to the supply of certain types of products. In particular, the issue of supplying products from third countries to the Republic of Armenia was considered. The co-chairs came to an understanding regarding the application of non-tariff protection measures in the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
A substantive exchange of views took place regarding the prospects for deepening Russian-Armenian humanitarian ties and implementing joint projects in the field of secondary and higher education.
In the context of the discussion of the issue of transport communications in the South Caucasus, the IGC co-chairs emphasized the importance of unblocking regional communications in full compliance with the principles of respect for the territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction and reciprocity of countries.
The parties agreed to continue work in all areas of cooperation in the run-up to the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia.
