DAMASCUS, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Syria's interim government's chief diplomat Asaad al-Shibani met with an Israeli delegation in Paris on Tuesday to discuss efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability in southern Syria, state news agency SANA reported.
According to him, the negotiators focused on de-escalation, non-interference in Syria's internal affairs and a return to the 1974 Israel-Syria disengagement agreement that has governed the border situation for decades. They also discussed ways to monitor the ceasefire in As-Suwayda province.
The meeting, mediated by the US, is part of broader diplomatic efforts to protect Syria's territorial integrity and strengthen regional security, SANA said. -0-
