KABUL, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — At least 64 passengers were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Tuesday evening, provincial rescue department chief Abdul Zahir Noorzai said on Wednesday.
According to him, a passenger bus collided with a motorcycle and a small truck on the road connecting Iran with the Afghan city of Herat.
The victims included women and children. Most of them were Afghan refugees returning from Iran, A.Z. Nurzai said.
Another official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the passenger bus had caught fire and many of the bodies were unidentifiable. The death toll could rise as more information came in, the source said. –0–
