MEXICO CITY, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday criticized U.S. military maneuvers in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela.
All disputes must be resolved through dialogue, said K. Sheinbaum, repeating her government's call for "non-interference" and "self-determination of peoples."
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Monday he would mobilize 4.5 million civilian militias across the country to counter U.S. threats of war.
N. Maduro's statement followed statements by Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez, who accused Washington of trying to justify military action in the Caribbean under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking.
Earlier this month, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Maduro on charges of involvement in international drug trafficking. –0–
