Moscow, August 19 (Xinhua) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have expressed support for continuing direct talks between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine, Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov said on Tuesday, commenting on the results of a telephone conversation between the heads of the two states.
Yuri Ushakov's comment was published on the Kremlin website on Tuesday. According to him, in a telephone conversation, the US President informed about the negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of several European countries that had ended in the White House. The idea was discussed that it would be worthwhile to study the possibility of raising the level of representatives of the Ukrainian and Russian sides, that is, those representatives who participate in the aforementioned direct negotiations.
The heads of the two countries agreed to continue to maintain close contact with each other on Ukrainian and other pressing issues on the international and bilateral agenda.
